CACHICA
Playful type and illustrations form the identity for a cocktail bar and kitchen in Koufonisi, Cyclades.
Cachica is a vibrant destination that aims to keep the island’s nightlife alive and thriving. Drawing inspiration from playful visual elements and warm colours, Cachica reflects the lively essence of the island in both image and atmosphere.
Cachica bar takes its name from the “permanent residents” of Kato Koufonisi—the island’s goats.
Define
Charming in their rugged natural habitat, the landscapes of Ano and Kato Koufonisi in the Cyclades inspired the creation of a new visual identity. The team aimed to establish a playful yet grounded space—a Cycladic bar destined to become a must-visit spot on the island. References to the simplicity of island life, the warm hues of the sun and meadows, and the playful character of the local goat informed the illustrations, typography, and signage.
Design
The composition of the goat’s head, with horns resembling a crescent moon, symbolises the bar’s “all night long” character. An antique Venetian map of the Small Cyclades, marked with dots representing the islands, guided the typography choice. Authentic photographic material from Ano Koufonisi adorned the placemats, while the external signage, made of metal with spacers, playfully interacts with the sunlight. Inside, illustrator Tania Cimatti brought the space to life with hand-drawn murals. The slow pace of life, entertainment, and creativity aligns perfectly with the philosophy of Cachica.
